I know ... I'm back almost a week ... and probably for people who have read the blogs of my fellow travelers this is just another repetition
What about ... the Whitsundays Islands are described and advertised as the Caribbean or something like that ... Australian white beaches, unspoiled islands that emerge from the crystal blue waters, breathtaking scenery ...
In reality, all their fame revolves around a beach, Whitehaven Beach, which is indeed very exciting especially when viewed from above.
shame that we have spent only a few hours ... but just enough time to get acquainted with the residents of the beach, the trigger-happy blue crabs that as soon as you get closer you hiding under the sand ...
Stare three days sailing (although call sailboat cart that is a compliment!) was really relaxing! The sunsets are spectacular in the sea and the sky when the sun is studded with bright stars (some are even falling) ... We saw the majestic sea eagles, one protruding from the water turtle, dolphins and even a shark ... and we did a lot of snorkeling among the coral ...
On the boat we were with twenty boys, all on the road along the east coast like us ... There was a group experience as it was to Fraser Island because we were many and most were native speakers of English boys who tended to make each group and they tended to be all drunk when the sun went down (I still wonder how that had to float the next day) ...
Often when people travel encounters that leave you something even if you share with them only a few moments ... And often times it is the people you meet who affect your opinion on an experience ... So maybe
is precisely for this reason that this experience has left me a bit 'bad taste in my mouth ... despite having spent three days and really nice to have seen places that will remain forever etched in my mind ...
Anyway, back on dry land we have refused to spend another night in Airlie (also because now I knew that could well be a goanna in the bed that I slept with the cabbage!) ... so, from stoic backpackers who we are ... we waited until 2 am bus to Townsville ... And since he was three days since we went for a shower, we washed public showers in the lagoon of Airlie ...;) Fortunately, we were up at midnight in a pub in the company of other guys in the boat ...
Townsville is very small but nice and quiet, although it is probably the most dangerous city 's Australia, as the palms do not have the networks under the "fruits" and if you walk in you risk falling into a coconut head ...! It has a beautiful waterfront and a beautiful alley of restaurants. After touring tourist villages populated only by backpackers finally here is a taste 'of Australia ... We caught a fantastic market where they sold local fruits such as bananas, pineapple and papaya and Aboriginal women who were selling their handicrafts.
After two days in Townsville, we took the ferry to Magnetic Island.
Magnetic Island boasts 320 days of bright sunshine a year ... Well ... we managed to catch a rainy day! However, in the only sunny day we managed to have a good Walk up to the site of military bases during World War II, from which it has a great view of the island, Coral Sea and Townsville! Along the path we saw two koaletti, one of which was awakened by my poor scream "aaaahhh ... there's a koala!".
In the evening we played cards with possums and curlews! =)
In the sense that we turned around looking for food while we played cards ...
Once back in continent, we took the Greyhound to Mission Beach, where we spent only one night ... x just long walks on the beach ...
And after two hour of Greyhound we finally reached the summit of Queensland: Cairns! In reality 'Australia does not end here ... but more 'up you can not' go ... then we are satisfied ... ;)
